80th anniversary of the murder of the seven Cervi brothers | December 28, 1943

 

On 17 January 1954, on the occasion of the national honouring of the seven Cervi brothers shot dead in Reggio Emilia on 28 December 1943 by the Nazis, the President of the Republic Luigi Einaudi received the old Cervi father at the Quirinale, holding a conversation with him.

The meeting with Alcide Cervi was important . What the two had in common - one a communist, the other a liberal - was their deep connection with the land as a constituent element of freedom, sociality, responsibility, innovation and democracy.
